The Institute of Corpus Studies and Applications at Shanghai International Studies University will hold the First International Forum on Study of Language Data Science and Applications for Young Scholars, a collaborative online conference from 11-13 November of 2022 for young scholars to exchange ideas and explore opportunities.
Conference Scope
We welcome submissions themed around, but not limited to, any of the below fields of interest:
1.Big-data-driven studies of language
2.Corpus studies
3.Multimodal corpus building and applications
4.Corpus-based or corpus-driven translation studies
5.Language data application in pedagogy
6.Language-data-based study of literature
7.Stylometry
8.Digital humanities approach to literature, history, politics and culture
9.Application of digital tools in study of literature and history
10.The Development of Database: Theory and Technology
This year’s event will welcome interdisciplinary explorations in areas related to language data. As a first forum organized by ICSA, we aim to build it into a platform for intellectual dialogues and warmly welcome young researchers from divergent background to join us in exploration into the uncharted future.
Submission Guidelines
You are welcome to participate in this conference in three different ways:
1.regular papers: 20 minutes. You are expected to submit a full paper as required and give a 20-minute presentation to your research.
2.poster papers: 10 minutes. You can choose to submit a videoed presentation to your research. It will be displayed on our conference’s site throughout the duration of the conference. Or you can give an oral presentation by using slides.
3.proposal papers: 5 minutes. You can share with audience your work-in-progress in whatever form you prefer to communicate within 5 minutes.
All submissions will be put into different groups according to the specific topics under discussion.

Deadlines for abstract or proposal submission: 10 of July
Notification of Acceptance: 10 of August
Deadlines for paper submission: 10 of October
Registration: 10 of August to 1 of November

Working Language
English. We prefer English for our communication. If your papers or proposals are in other languages, you are required to convert them into English so our audience can better learn from your research.

Requirements
Your abstract should be no more than 300 words. Your bio information should be entered into our required format and be sent to us too.

Your full paper should be between 5000 and 8000 words and conform to APA style.
Review
Your submission will be peer reviewed by two reviewers. The criteria will include:
Relevance to conference scope, 20%
Engagement with recent scholarship, 20%
Innovation in framework, methodology, or materials, 20%
Well-formedness in structure, 20%
Significance and value, 20%
