Deputy Minister of China’s Ministry of Education Wen Tiehui led a delegation to visit Institute of Corpus Studies and Applications of Shanghai International Studies University this afternoon. Both Party Secretary and President of SISU joined the visit, together with other members from Wen’s delegation.
After a brief tour to labs for digital humanities and language intelligence at ICSA, Deputy Minister Wen’s delegation joined a briefing delivered by Dean of ICSA Hu Kaibao about ICSA’s progress in strategy implementation, team building, academic research, and lab establishment.
ICSA aims to integrate technology with humanities, building multilanguage parallel corpus and databases upon which to meet the needs from the state, the market, and the academia. Looking into the future, ICSA would strive to build itself into a hub for talent training and frontier research with a view to language data processing and applications.
ICSA’s progress gained acclaim from Deputy Minister Wen, who showed particular interest in the construction of multilanguage integrated platform of The Governance of China.
