First Cohort of Master’s Graduates in Language Data Science and Applications Celebrates Graduation from ICSA at SISU

This June, the inaugural group of 20 master’s graduates in Language Data Science and Applications from the Institute of Corpus Studies and Applications (ICSA) at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) has celebrated their graduation.

Among the graduates, 12 have entered the workforce, securing positions at notable organizations such as NetEase Network Co., Ltd., iFlytek Co., Ltd., Trip.com Group Ltd., the Tai’an Municipal People’s Government, and The Education University of Hong Kong. Meanwhile, 7 have opted to pursue further studies, and 1 has chosen to join the military as an officer.

Since its establishment, the institute has actively implemented its “All-member, Whole-process, All-around” educational approach, focusing on developing professionals with a comprehensive expertise in language data.

The institute has supported graduate research innovation through self-funded projects, as well as hosting events like “Postgraduate Academic Innovation Week” and “Academic Training Camps.” It remains dedicated to enhancing the innovation and practical skills of postgraduates in Language Data Science and Applications.

Last year, the institute spearheaded the application for the “Construction and Practice of the Postgraduate Training System in Language Data Science and Applications” project, which was selected as a 2023 Shanghai Postgraduate Education Reform Project. Additionally, the “University Student Internship Practice Base - Data Processing Project,” established in collaboration with ByteDance, has officially commenced operations.

In the future, ICSA plans to intensify its efforts in training professionals by optimizing its curriculum, boosting students’ innovative capabilities, and expanding opportunities for research and corporate internships. The institute aims to establish a premier professional training system.
