In this presentation I will explore how corpus linguistic research has changed over the last several decades. I will focus on both methodological developments and also the increased role of quantitative approaches and the recent interest in AI. My presentation will have three sections that will consist of showcasing studies that reflect recent issues and challenges in corpus linguistic research, and or practices. The three areas addressed in my presentation are listed below:
1. Tools in corpus linguistics: Advantages and challenges
2. The role of linguistics in corpus research: A focus on the role of linguistics in corpus research
3. Corpus informed language instruction: Bridging the gap between research and teaching
A theme woven throughout these three sections will be where we have been and where we are headed.
